¯   PROGRAM:     Tami reminded us that todayÕs program would be a Club Assembly.  This gives committee chairs and others the opportunity to inform us of their activities in support of Rotary goals.  President Elect (2009-2010) Mark Prouty kicked it off by telling us that he would be attending the President Elect Training Session (PETS) at the end of the month in Denver.  In April and May, Mark will be forming his board of directors for his term next year.  Please be ready to share your talents with Mark.  Treasurer Cathy Crum was not present so Tami filled in by informing us that the club is solvent and raised more money than it spent last year.  Tami told us that Cathy had developed a form which will be used when someone needs a check written for club expenses.  A copy of the form was on each table so please use it.  Using the form will leave us a good audit trail of monies spent on behalf of the HNR.  Ted Weirather, Fund Raising Committee Chair told of our three major fund raising events: Red Ball Express, Monte Carlo and the annual golf tournament.   The 2009 Red Ball raised about $4,000 @ for the four Rotary Clubs in the community, down a little from 2008.  Monte Carlo night raised about $16,000 in 2008 under Bill CartwrightÕs leadership and we are optimistic that will be accomplished in the current economic environment under Howard Wilson and Justin Osborne. The annual High Noon Rotary-United Way golf tournament which Tim Walsworth has spearheaded for five years will be led by Mike Kane this year and it will be held at Dalton Ranch Golf Club.  Ted reminded the membership that we are all fundraisers when we sell tickets, recruit sponsors and attend events in order to support Rotary goals in the community.  Charlie Albert talked about the International Committee that he has chaired for many years.  This yearÕs major project is a water project in Ecuador in cooperation with the Rio Blanca club in Ecuador and the local chapter of Engineers without Borders. The project will cost $17,000 with $4k-$5k coming from HNR.  Angie Beach is planning the trip.  Dan McCarthy, Youth Chair, thanked Chip Lile and Jim Duke for their contributions to youth and Jan and Steve for hosting Boom this trimester.  Dan talked about the dictionary project for 3d graders which resulted in 350 dictionaries being distributed to 9R, St. Columba and possibly to the Montessori School.  Dan thanked Walt Duhane and formerly Dan Cowan for advising the Interact Club.  Dan also thanked Chip Lile and Sara Olsen for helping the Rotaract Club which ran a concession at the Red Ball and raised $1,500 according to Mark Prouty.  Barb Stine is heading up the scholarship committee and announced that the application materials are on the club web site for this year.  In particular, we will be seeking out non-traditional college family applicants. Barb also reminded us of the vocational school scholarship funded annually by Bud Deering.  Membership Chair, Jill Wark, updated us with our current club membership numbers: 92 members, 73 active, 12 on leave and 7 honorary.  There is also one potential club member currently in the pipeline.  Peter Marshall, Projects Chair, reminded us of the dictionary project and the roadside cleanup project that will be performed when the snow melts.  Peter also mentioned the project that Bill Cartwright coordinated with Habitat for Humanity that resulted in two duplexes being built last year for deserving families who contributed their sweat equity.  Another house will be built this year also at Fox Farm Village near Bayfield.  Rotary Build Day will be July 11th so get your Cathcarts and work gloves ready.  Niles Bruno, Capital projects and Mini-Grant committee Chair, told about the allocation of about $15,000 to deserving causes in our community.  The money goes toward youth, seniors, and literacy. HNR also used to focus on community beautification; however, with many of the local governments being fiscally able to accomplish this goal, HNR will not focus on that area for the foreseeable future.  Niles also mentioned that the committee will advise the board of directors on the fund allocations for the July to December and January to June periods.  Ward Holmes is our publicity chair with the help of Tom Galbraith on the web site.   Tami reported for Samantha Gallant on the Administrative CommitteeÕs efforts.  Rick Routh, our program chair has done a yeomanÕs work putting together the entire interesting and informative speakers list for the past few years.  Rick can always use everyoneÕs help in finding and recruiting interesting speakers to keep our meetings dynamic.   Nancy Bennet has been doing our fellowship and sympathy cards for our members.  If anyone was not impressed today with the depth and breadth of our membersÕ efforts and contributions to RotaryÕs goals, they werenÕt listening.

Next Weeks Program:     Exciting Multi Media Presentation.  Start time is 12:15 PM

The Four Way Test in everything we do and say:

Ÿ  Is it the truth?
