Fellow Rotarians:

Thursday April 24, 2008 - Speaker will be Dolf Kuss, a former Olympian, teacher and local skier.

Special Request:  When making checks to scholarship please put in the payee line LaPlata County Rotary Scholarship Fund OR LPC Rotary Scholarship.  These funds go directly to the endowment and DO NOT PASS through our bank account.  The scholarships we award at this time of year, and continuing scholarships come out of our operating budget which is funded throughout the year by fundraisers put on.  Thank You

·         A big thank you to Peter Marshall and David Downs for the great Rotary Community Report; also to all those who submitted articles and bought advertising.  Speaking of that when you see David Downs shake his hand, because of his great effort we cleared $8k on the advertising.

·         Niles Bruno and his team of hearty volunteers made Redball a success with a net return to the club of $4785.  Thank you Niles and team.

·         Bill Cartwright is still collecting for Monte Carlo, but it looks to be a great contributor this year and thanks to Bill and his team.

·         As long as we are talking fun (as in fund raising) just a quick reminder that the annual Golf Tournament if set for July 18, 2008, at the Hillcrest Club.  Tim Walsworth and one of our new members Nancy Bennett will co-chair.

·         The Daybreak Club has agreed to take over the lead from Angie Beach of Interact Club when her term is up.

·         A meeting among the Rotary Presidents resulted in an agreement that the Evening, Daybreak, and Pine River Clubs would participate in cost sharing of the Rotary Community Report.  Way to go Mr. Lile.

·          Now mark your Calendars for May 10, 2008 and gear up to clean our portion of Highway 160 between Durango West and Durango Ridge Estates.   The more who volunteer the faster it goes and the less each one of us has to bend over.  Do not know about you, but my mature back could go for fewer bends.  Understand there will be a breakfast prior to start so sign up early.

·         See you Thursday.
