Fellow Rotarians:

Thursday January 24, Dolf Kuss, former Olympian, teacher and local skier, will be our speaker.  (Program is dynamic and changes unexpectedly so be prepared for good surprises)

According to a very good source, to remain unnamed, we are in a competition between local clubs (Lions, Kiwanis and the Rotary) to see who among us can contribute the most to erasing the trains' carbon footprint.  So far the Lions are ahead with the Kiwanis right behind.   As you heard at last weeks meeting we finally made the 47% mark and our personal effort to erase the Durango/ Silverton Railroads carbon footprint. You still have time contact Ray Pierotti at 382-7770, and let him know you are interested.   The other Durango Rotary Clubs have joined in and the Breakfast Club is leading the way.   There will be a plaque presented by the Chamber of Commerce with the trains name first, and those clubs contributing, in the order of success of contribution sometime this Spring or Summer.  Would like to see our name first so let's all join in and make this a real accomplishment for a club even if we all contribute only one block each.

As of March 1, 2008, this will be announced in the paper and the public will be invited to join in.

The Redball Express tickets still need to be sold and turned in to Jill Carithers soon.   Redball is Saturday February 9, 2008. 4:08 p.m. at the Durango Mountain Resort.  Volunteers are still needed for all positions, especially for set up in the morning at 7:00 a.m. (bring a 9/16" wrench) so please sign up with Mark Prouty this Thursday if you can help.   Be sure to sign up for the ski race with Justin Osborne.  It runs from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. so come dressed in you best red costume.

After last weeks meeting several of our generous Rotarian donated $700 dollars to Engineers without Borders.  Thank you.  There will be an Ask Event put on for this same cause on Tuesday, February 12, 2008, Fort Lewis College, beginning at 6:30 p.m.  Call Rick Routh 749-2321 for additional information.

You will find in the attachment information regarding and upcoming fundraiser to benefit the Interact Club for their trip to Juarez, Mexico during Spring Break this year.  Please try to attend; the beer is being donated by SKA Brewing Company, and light bulbs by LPEA.

See you Thursday.
