A challenge from John Wilkin, the
Ohio State fan (Buckeyes) to Bud Poe the Michigan fan (Wolverines). Oh by
the way, did you know that Bud Poe was a wide receiver for Michigan state? Anyway back to the point. If Ohio State
loses then John must wear the Michigan state school tie for three consecutive
meetings and if Ohio wins then Bud must wear the incredibly ugly (Johns' words,
he was demonstrating school the tie today) Ohio tie for the same period of
time.

We are at 49% as of today with Redball coming up as our next big fundraiser.
The Gold Tournament produced 120%;
fines produced 57% through the first four months of the year towards our
fundraising efforts.
From our fundraising we have
taken $22.5k out for scholarships and $2.4k our for
dictionaries. If you want and complete budget contact Chip Lile.
Chip Lile:
Things are looking great for the club even with the challenges we have had to
face with fundraising, and most recently the
tragic loss of a member.
February 2008 is district-wide
Rotary Month; we need individuals to help take
notes for the weekly newsletter; Wayne Bedor has
agreed to begin taking notes during meetings starting in July
2008; there is a new design for the web-site check it out; also we
are looking for someone who is interested in doing club
photography. For all of the above please see Chip.
Tami Coddington:
Putting together her board for next year; please contact her if you are
interested in serving.
Jill Wark:
95 members as of today, with 5 honorary and 4 new Red Badges. We were
reminded of the proper way to introduce a guest to the club. Give their
name, occupation, a little about what they are doing in the community or their
pets; DO NOT SAY THEY WANT TO JOIN THE CLUB.
Potential members must attend three meetings, have their names forwarded by
their sponsors to the membership committee who then forwards to the board if
approved on to the membership. If you have any question please see Jill Wark.
Dan McCarthy: Youth Services
((Rotary Youth Services Awards (RYLA)), Interact, ROteract,
and Youth Exchange - RYLA is looking for volunteers to attend training, if
interested please contact Dan for more information.
Melisa Caskey
- Interact - The Interact Club currently has 84 members. Their garage
sale netted them $1300 and the Trick-or-Treat drive $350. They will be
selling Redball tickets to raise additional monies
for their projects. Right now the club is planning a trip to Brazil for
the Spring.
Birttny Patterson - Roteract - The club
averages between 16-20 members at the college. Four members who will be
graduating and moving up to FLC will be joining them soon. Brittny wanted to thank Sara Olsen and Loryn
Kasten who are both such kind, strong women,
willing to do anything to help them build and grow. Angie Beach. Moni Helling and Emily Spencer
helped them with the Speed Dating Event. They raised over
3K for their service project. They are looking into either going to New Orleans or California and helping our
with the fire victims this year. Thank Rick Routh
for his help on Education Awareness Program. Also thanked Ward Holmes for
his willingness to discuss with Brittny about being
president of Roteract. She mentioned Chip did
not want to be thanked openly because he felt that was his responsibility as
Club President, BUT he received one just the same. The Club just finished up
the non-profit class that tok eight weeks to complete
and thanked the club for supporting them in this effort. Colleen Boulware our Sponsor, just
got married and her husband believes she spends more time with us than
him. She is really always willing to help us out.
We are putting together and
organizing the Snowdown Parade entry for Rotary this
year.
Colleen Boulware
- Roteract Sponsor: Roteract
will be putting on a Pre-Party on 1/1/08 with hot
chocolate. We will be selling mugs with the Snowdown Logo on them.
Chip Lile
for Jim Duke: Youth Exchange needs host families and transportation

Peter Marshall - Scholarship Committee: $22.5K, Four Students on
full-ride; 10 students with 1K; 1 student with a vocational scholarship thanks
to the wonderful donation of Bud Deering, and 6
continuing scholarships.
Chip Lile:
We need a committee to take over the production of the Community Fundraising Report, that is now done by the Scholarship Committee.
This will be addressed after the first of the year. If you are interested
speak up we need your help.
Steve Govreau
- Rotary Foundation & Community Foundation: 47 of our members give to
the Rotary Foundation. Additionally members give to the Community
Foundation and this year Rotary was able to provide 5K.
Charlie Albert - International
Projects: We received 70K from the Rotary Foundation for our
International Projects. The only other club that received more than us
was the Aspen Club. From those monies we were able to send the Interact
Club to Honduras for the Water Filtration Project; Juarez, Mexico and Operation
Cleft Pallet; Guarero Mexico, School Buses (two); and
upcoming Amazon Basin in Brazil for our Interact Club. Chip added that we
received a matching grant of 1K for a total of 2K for the Boys and Girls Clubs
of Durango.
Chip for Bill Cartwright, Service
Projects: Monte Carlo is coming up in the Spring
and he needs new blood (volunteers). He promises there will be fewer
meetings. Looking for more sponsorships for this
event also.
