is heading of the speakers for Character in Schools. So far Jill Wark has signed up to speak about
Trustworthiness. We still need volunteers for Caring, Citizenship,
Courage, Diligence, Fairness, Honesty, Responsibility,
and Tolerance. We as Rotarians must be able to step up
and speak to our young people about this important words.
Please see
if you can find the time in your busy schedules to help out.
Tim Walsworths'
Long Horns lost to Jay Hwangs' Sooners, so guess who
got a six-pack of beer?
There were MANY FINES - Thanks Mr. O'Block
And Many Happy Dollars - I will
mention one happy dollar since I can remember it; give by Bud Deerings' lovely wife Judy, calling him now after his last
replacement of a knee the "Bionic Bud"
Speakers: Biff and Tess Stransky - Backcountry Horsemen
Great presentation on preserving the
back country with information on packing in and packing out tools for repairing
trails 2000. They were also part of the group that headed up
an effort to provide temporary pens so individuals riding the trails had
temporary pens to stable the horses while riding and back country
riding. Lot of good information of bikers on approaching
horses on the trail; to say hello when you approach and when you pass.
Pass on the down side, not the upper side as this spooks
them. Also, do no climb up the hill above trail as horses cannot move
their heads to look up, and this can also cause them to bolt, stumble and lose
themselves and rider off a steep
embankment. Trail courtesy and knowledge will help everyone.
We learned that "Wilderness" means lands that enjoy
congressional designation and protection. If you want to contact the Stranskys' they can be reached at yahoo .4cbch.org for more
information on what they do in regards to our great outdoors with their horses.
Have a great day and hope to see you
at the next meeting
Kathy Firestone
