Opening
President
Ward Holmes rang the bell,” and all stood to recite the Pledge of
Allegiance.
Jan Measles (after the Guests were introduced) tied today’s inspiration
to a photo of a field of daffodils (50,000 bulbs, 5 acres of bulbs).
Moral of the story – you can change the world ‘one day at a time.”

Ward announced that former member; Patty Burkholder sent a
letter to let us know that her son is donating a kidney to his father.
Ward will keep us up-to-date on the progress of the transplant.
RED
BALL: Niles
Bruno: There will be 6 major door prizes this year. Each club
is to give 2. We have one (Peter Marshall/Doubletree) and need 1
more. Let Niles
know. Rotary members will be eligible for the door prize by receiving 1
ticket for each of his/her 20 tickets bought/sold. 2 captains are needed
for the ski racing team – Justin Osborn shot up his hand and
volunteered. Niles
passed around a volunteer sign-up sheet. Tim Walsworth
reported that $30,000 was pumped into the community last year through mini
grants. Tim then bought 20 tickets – on one form! He encouraged all
to use the multi-ticket option and reminded all to turn tickets into Mark Prouty. Tim said it is a great event. Angie
Beach continued with Red Ball by pointing out the flyers on tables
describing the DHS Interact Club Chili Cook-Off with big prizes.
She encouraged participation. To enter fill out an entry form (available
today and from Angie) and turn in the form with a $10 entry fee to Angie by
January 25. Cook your best chili (red/green) and bring the chili (in a
crock pot) to the Durango

Coleman distributed thank you letters from Park Elementary students
thanking us for the dictionaries; and Emily Spencer had letters on each
table from Sunnyside.
Sgt. of Arms
Mark Prouty was asked to serve in Chandler

Marshall, Tom White. Wedding Anniversary: Brian Myers
and Club Anniversary: John Anderson. Some weren’t there so
they will get you later. Happy Dollars: Dan
Morgenstern pointed out a newspaper article describing how they drove to Maine
for Christmas and he is happy to be living here – and more dollars to announce
a San Juan Symphony event at the Doubletree (piano recital – more info? See Dan). Bob Chaput
threw in a buck to describe his old California
high school used in the new Hilary Swank movie. Dick Sullivan –
happy about 3 3lk. Guest, Brad Tafoya,
told a “dictionary story” that the Daybreak group experienced. John
Wilkin tossed in a “Humble Dollar” regarding the results of Ohio
State’s
BCS Championship game loss. Wayne Bedor was
happy that he has had 3 volunteer hosts for the upcoming Russian accountant
visit. Bud Deering gave two dollars, one
that his back brace is off, and the other so that Judy doesn’t have a leash on
him. The winning ticket went to our guest (no hoops or golf today).
