February 10, 2007.  More info to come…

He also announced that the District Conference for 2007 will be held here in Durango @ FLC.  Dates are October 12th – 14th and if anyone would like to help out please contact Ward or John Francis of the evening club.

Another announcement from Ward:  If anyone knows of a student who would like to be an Exchange Student to him know.

Ward was also contacted by Lauren Delle who is the Coordinator for the Academic Explorers Program @ FLC, she instructs a class for freshmen called Exploring the Liberal Arts, they would like to interview local area business owners on what the concept of vocation means to them.  Anyone interested in being interviewed should contact Ward or call Lauren Delle directly @ 247-7085 or by email @ delle_l@fortlewis.edu

Ward also announced that the District Governor approved a grant  for up to $3,000 to help us cover the cost of our Public Relations campaign (the insert in the Herald)  last year we (High Noon and Evening clubs) paid for the ad ourselves.  Rotary International will make the final decision…..keep your fingers crossed!

Finally from Ward…the Board meeting is postponed to October 24th at 5:30 to be held @ Durango Office Suites.

Justin Osborn reminded us that our Christmas party is just around the corner… less than 2 months as a matter of fact…December 7th to be exact.  He will need us ALL to start RSVPing ASAP.  Justin also announced that Ducks Unlimited is holding a Youth Duck Hunt on Saturday, October 28th @ McPhee Reservoir. This is for children 16 and under, they must hold a hunters safety card.  Anyone wishing to sign up a youth should contact him ASAP.

Ted Robson invited anyone interest in attending the Rotary Tri-District Conference next month November 3 & 4 to pick up the information brochure on the table, check out the program and get their reservation right away.  He told us that the attendees last year were treated like royalty!!  Contact Ted and if you have questions.

Cathy Crum  expressed thanks to all who contributed their time and efforts for the Habitat for Humanity build – last Saturday, October 7. Helpers included: Jay Hwang, Howard Wilson, Kathy Firestone, Sara Olsen, Burt Coleman, Dave Ganevsky, Tom Galbraith, LeAnn Jawarsky and her son Jared, and Mark Dold brought over his bulldozer, wow!

Sgt. at Arms

Chandler Jackson busted Justin Osborn and Steve Redding for being in the paper.  Justin for being a big producer at his place of business and was warned not to put Monopoly $$ on the table since he surely had plenty of real $$.  Steve Redding appeared with Bob Dolphin talking about the benefits of getting our new library built.  Steve was not present, perhaps a fine next week??? THE OLD FARTS TABLE WAS BUSTED FOR REJECTING ONE LADY’S PRESENCE IN FAVOR OF ANOTHER!!!! Shameful!   Happy Dollars:  Chandler himself started off announcing that his son and grandchildren will be here permanently by this weekend!  Rick Routh put in happy dollars for someone he knew was a recipient of a Habitat Home.  Scott Mathis for his daughter relocating to Durango and getting a great promotion and hoping his son-in-law gets a good paying job.  Dick Sullivan because his daughter Molly turned 10 yrs old, he also took the opportunity to express his concern about School security in the wake of the shootings in Parker, CO and Pennsylvania, mentioning a couple of disconcerting incidents that occurred here in our small community that could mean rougher times to come he wondered if High Noon Rotary would consider developing a program that might help the situation.  Ticket drawing:  #830 and it belonged to Angie Beach just as Chandler was handing her a large wad of cash, Angie graciously asked that the money be given to RotorAct since the ticket for their flight are so expensive.  She asked for suggestions about raising some cash real fast…some members suggested the possibility of getting frequent flyer miles donated.  Member birthdays included Phil Bryson and Mark Prouty.  Wedding anniversariesAngie Beach 8 years and Emily Spencer 16 years.  Club AnniversariesJames Burpee 5 years, Melisa Caskey 6 years, Bill Hobson 2 years.
