Announcements

 

Tim Walsworth announced that the Golf tournament proceeds were as reported approx. 13K

 

Cathy Crum asked for volunteers for Habitat for Humanity and reminded everyone that Wells Fargo would match $2,500 per day. Available dates for assistance needed for homes being constructed on Florida Road are: 9/6, 9/8, 9/13 & 9/14. Please see Cathy to sign up if you can help on any of these days. Cathy also reminded us that the Group Study Exchange folks would be arriving in Durango between 9/26 and 9/30 and Host families are needed.

 

Jan Williams announced that the District Rotary meeting would be held next year in Durango and the featured speaker would be Frank Devlin, former Rotary International President.

 

Pam Moore reminded us that Highway Trash Pick-Up day was scheduled for Saturday September 9th.

Chandler Jackson, without the aid of a microphone, made mention to those present and any-one within La Plata County that fines may be in order for Jim Burpee for his letter to the editor, recently published in the Durango Herald. Celebrating birthdays in August: Ellen Roberts, Bob Salzer, Emily Spencer and Jeannie Wheeldon.

Happy dollars from Tom Brossia for a new addition to the family – a 40lb lab and to Nancy Hammond for her new family addition – a 30,000lb 4-color printing press. Also Happy dollars from the following: Bob Salzer for the conclusion of the successful state fair & for his impending knee replacements, Chandler Jackson for the arrival of FLC students and some new life to campus, Mark Donahue, who thought it better to fine himself for his name appearing in the paper.

Manuel Pozo-Alonso and his wife Margie, daughter Angelica and son Austin entertained us with some songs that wowed the entire group!
