Opening
Ward Holmes led us in
the Pledge of Allegiance of Allegiance. Jan Measles couldn’t decide which
of two motivational quotes to choose from so
she read both! One about doers and leaders and the other from Bill Gates
addressing when bad news come you should embrace it and change it to a positive
outcome.

Announcements
Ward stated that the announcements would
be brief and that the Sgt. at Arms duties would be omitted for this special
meeting. He reminded everyone that those with birthdays and anniversaries
“know what to do.”
Ward reminded everyone that next

Ward reported for Tim Walsworth that
the golf tournament funds are holding steady at $26,066.01. The United
Way/Club split is $13,000+ each. $1,000 more than last
year.
Justin Osborne thanked the Rotarians who attended the Ducks Unlimited
event on Saturday, August 12th and reported that the funds raised
would protect 75 acres of wetlands.
Ward said reported that a Board meeting was held this week and the only

cited several quotes to emphasize his points. There are 57 Clubs in our
district and all need to take advantage of the opportunities for learning at
Rotary websites (District, Foundation). He described international work

The District Governor noted that one-fifth of the Club is receiving Paul
Harris Fellow recognition.

Closing
Ward thanked Justin for coordinating the August 16 potluck; Jeannie
Wheeldon for the melodrama tickets; and Peter
Marshall for taking the abuse he took and thanked him for the Doubletree’s
famous cookies.
And once again….Here’s Bud"
– Who was surprised he was called on for a meeting-ending joke with the
District Governor here, but he forged ahead with a story about what constitutes
a bad day. Ward wished everyone a great week and rang the bell to
release us.
