Announcements

Steve Govreau thanked the many members that worked so hard to make the Monte Carlo Night a great success.  Melisa Caskey sold the most tickets – 17 and won the prize of a free dinner.  The event netted between $12,000 and $13,000.  HNR received thank you letters from San Juan Basin Health, and the “Eye and Ear Program” for donations.  The HNR Board will be presenting information on the Buckley Park Plan at an upcoming meeting.  Sadly Susan Sanders said she is going to the evening club.  Chandler Jackson needs RYLA applications.  He also needs a sponsor for the Rotaract Club for their trip to Jaurez, Mexico on August 4-6.  Rick Routh said that the next beer and weeding event will be May 31st – contact him for details

Sgt. of Arms

Mark Proudy wished Jill Wark a happy birthday.  There were happy dollars donated by a numbers of rotarians for winning bets and new businesses.  Dick Pearson was the surprise rotarian who had made the cover of Life Magazine.  He was waving goodbye to LBJ from the USS North Hampton.  Judy Easley had her Red badge turned to Blue by Chandler Jackson.

Program

Today’s program was a wonderful presentation by the Interact and Roteract Clubs of their trip to Mississippi to help hurricane Katrina victims.   The members shared their feeling and highlights of their trip.  A twenty minute video, summarizing their trip, was prepared by a Rotoract  member and shown to the club.  Angie Beach and Melisa Caskey were both thanked for their wonderful contribution and support to the group.

Closing

Bud pointed out how unselfish the members of the two clubs were, and how they chose to help others and not only think of themselves.

Next Program

Operation Healthy Communities, John Anderson  (April 27, 2006).
