ROTARY GRAM     9/2/04

We were graced with many fine guests again this week.  Also in attendance was Annette our French foreign exchange student.  

Announcements:

• Ted Robson and Don Freemyer will have sign up sheets at this weeks meeting (9/9/04) for the current Wheel Chair drive.

         If you have all ready signed up for one (or more !) please bring your $$$

• There was a Rotaract meeting that was very successful - 18 prospective members

Sgt at Arms - Steve Wheeldon.........

Steve "wheeled"out the big guns and the card decks for an interesting way to procure more wheel chairs.

The lucky "winners" were:     Bud Poe, Burt Coleman, Tim Walsworth, Mike Sandberg, Bob Volger, Tami Coddington,

Nancy Hammond and Brad Burtell, our newest honorary member.   Those folks

get to designate in whose name wheel chairs will be donated.  Each table's "winnings" go to the purchase of those chairs.

Steve Wheeldon, the winner of the "pot" has designated the following: Bill Wright, Bill Mauer, Chuck Lile (founding president of HNR, and La Plata Open Space Conservancy as the Honorees for his 4 wheel chairs.

Fun Stuff:

Susan Sanders announced a hike on Saturday (rained out) and a Bike trek on Sunday -  both are past events.

However things to come........ Fireside chat / Wine tasting at Susan's house 11/19/04  more info to follow.

Membership:

New honorary member, Brad Burtell.  He is the new president of Ft. Lewis College and a great guy!  Get to know him when he has a chance to attend meetings.

Program:

Our very own Howard Wilson and his lovely wife spoke about the upcoming "arts and crafts" conference that is being held in Durango on October 22 - 24.  Call Renata at the Strater if you are interested in attending.

Late news:

Arvella Higby is in ICU at Mercy with congestive heart failure.  She would appreciate your prayers and good wishes.
