High Noon Rotary Club
May 27, 2004
The HNRC met in the dungeons deep in the bowels of the DoubleTree. [Sorry, Peter, you have spoiled us!] Chessa was in fine form, sans microphone, as she led us in our Invocation and Pledge.
Guests:
Rotarians from the Daybreak Club President-Elect John Francis and Past President Jan Williams joined us today. Jay Hwang invited Mike Kane from Fire-Ready, Tami C. bought lunch for Jim Duke, and Phil Bryson returned again as the guest of Steve G.
Sorry, no Announcements or Person of the Week this week.
Program:
Chuck Owens from the DHS’s “Entrepreneur Class” brought his top three Business Plans students to the meeting. Katie Brown brought plans for a Donut Shop – she plans to attend FLC and pursue her MBA. Danielle Downey presented her plan for a non-profit Therapeutic Horse Riding facility for people with disabilities – a very neat and unusual proposal! Finally, Scarlet Sieber proposed a retail establishment that combined clothing and candies.
Next week:
Program: Ron Dent, from the Airport
Menu: Oriental Buffet

News Alert….
HNRC Member Walter Parks this weekend suffered a double dose of hardship. His 17-year old son Wesley Parks was diagnosed with a brain tumor, and is scheduled for surgery Memorial Day in Denver. Wife Linda Lou is there, and he is anxious to join them. However, his home is under contract and he needed to vacate it by June 1st. Hence, the call went out for Rotarians to help him pack and move his household Saturday and Sunday. Many of us pitched in, along with a number of his neighbors, to perform the challenge. Our members who helped this Memorial Day weekend included Dave G., Tom B., Susan S., Ward H., Jay H., Spencer P., and others your reporter missed (sorry!). You Rotarians have all earned “MakeUp” credits! What a wonderful group of people we are privileged to count upon as friends when in need. Plus our thoughts and prayers for young Wesley.
Yours in Rotary,
Spencer, your Scribe
