HIGH NOON ROTARY

October 26, 2000

The meeting was called to order by Tom Galbraith with a solid clang of the bell.

The invocation and pledge was given by Jay Hwang, who has appreciated his one year of service in Rotary.

There was a sad announcement: Hobart Moses passed away in Texas from Alzheimer’s disease. A card was signed by all Rotarians.

Mary Barter announced a new mentoring system of tutoring for elementary students.

We had many visitors today. They were: Jack Walls, Past District Governor, Sherry Taber, Stanna Galbraith, GSE Team candidates, Deana Lemand and Pam Leslie, and Chessa Gill’s mom, Arvella Higby.

Pam Copeland’s motorcycle tour got home 30 minutes before the rain hit. It was a good trip.

Pete Sanders will be working in Saipan for the next seven weeks. One opthamologist currently serves 80,000 people in the Marianas.

Bob Chaput drilled Mike Matheson for his letter to the editor. Bill Hermesman paid for the purchase of the Main Mall. Jill Bruce paid for the computer business.

Sherry Taber, Director of the Durango Public Library, gave detailed information about the uses of the library. It serves everyone in La Plata County. Not just books, the Library loans videos, books on tape, CD Roms, and computers, newspapers, magazines etc.

The following online databases will be available soon at the library:
