(04-05-2007 Meeting)

Opening

Ward was back from Spring Break and led us in the Pledge.

Jan Measles was out so Steve Osborne had the music to Jan’s words of wisdom and iterated a story about an old Cherokee who told his grandson that every person has a good wolf and a bad wolf inside him/her.  When queried by the grandson which wolf wins out, the old Cherokee responded with “whichever wolf gets fed.” Sound advice.

Announcements

Bill Cartwright is still seeking volunteers to help out at Casino Night on April 14th.  Volunteers will receive training and work two hour shifts so you will have time to gamble as well. It’s a lot of fun so give Bill a call now.  Jill Wark announced the Fireside Chat of April 5th at the Strater starting at 5:30 with hors d’ouveres and adult beverages. Ward announced the first scholarship today after the meeting.  Apparently we again have lots of good candidates. Emily Spencer announced the “speed dating” evening at the Diamond Circle Theater sponsored by the Rotaract Club.  It is for all ages not just 20 something’s.

 Sgt. of Arms

Chandler Jackson announced: member birthdays –  Tami Coddington, Daries “Chip” Lile and Mark Donahue, in ascending order of seniority.   Happy dollars included:  Mark Dold’s $5 for him being featured on a book mark at the library. Moni paid for her new found enlightenment on how wonderful it is that we all have clean water compared to a lot of countries such as Honduras. It wasn’t just the Interact members that learned something on the trip to Honduras. Chip Lile paid for the success of the trip and a recent lesson on speeding in the San Luis Valley.  Bill Cartwright paid because as Joseph’s foster Dad,  he was pleased to have met Joseph’s birth mother.  Rick Routh paid because he and his wife were able to meet the Galbraith’s while on vacation.  Dick Sullivant was pleased with his daughter, Molly, having hit a ball 150 yards on the practice range.  Ticket Draw: Cathy Crum won the draw but nothing else.

Program

Kathryn Saley, Special Projects Coordinator for the Colorado Workforce Center was introduced by Rick Routh.  Kathryn proceeded to inform everyone of all the testing tools available to employers and people seeking employment that are available at the Colorado Workforce Center.  The intent is to match the right folks with the right jobs which apparently has not been the case in SW Colorado.  Kathryn can be reached at: land line 970-563-4517 X 220 or mobile 970-759-5369 if anyone needs her help. Jim Dukes made a suggestion that they survey their clients to determine how successful they have been over the past 15 years.

Closing

Bud  outdid himself and told three amusing jokes and there was not a moan in the house.  I’m sure he would be happy to reiterate the jokes if you want to call talk to him about the jokes.

Respectfully Submitted, Wayne M. Bedor
