Nils Bruno – Still seeking workers for Red Ball Express this Saturday, both
morning and afternoon. Contact him if
you want to help. If you are up at the
mountain and have not signed up to help, drop by anyway and you will be put to
work.
Justin Osborne – Said that last Saturday’s training day for
the team was great. All 15 racers should
meet at the bottom of the Six-Pack at 9:15 Saturday AM. Call Justin if you have
any questions.
Tami Coddington announced that there are 14 pots of Chili
that will be carried up to the mountain on Saturday and sold as a fund raiser
for the Interact Club.
Dick Sullivan is recruiting racers for the Dave Spencer
ski race classic on March 3, 2007. Justin Osborne will provide Dick
with his list of skiers at the February 10th event.
President Ward announced the next Board of Directors
meeting will be Tuesday, February 20th at Phil Bryson’s conference
room at 5:30 PM.
Tom Brossia informed folks to not wear cotton socks to work at the Red Ball
Express on Saturday, wear wool for warmth.
Rick Routh thanked the members that participated in the Super Bowl football pool
which raised $420 for Rotary.

Jackson returned as SoA in
“fine” form fining everyone that did not sell their 20 Red Ball tickets. Justin
Osborne was fined for playing softball on skis amongst other activities
that were finable. Club anniversaries: Burt Coleman 8 years, Ward Holmes 9 years, Leanne Jaworsky two years, and Rick Routh 9 years. Happy dollars included Josh Osborne and wife are having a baby boy and Mark Prouty had a new grandson. Mark
also had a joke about the similarities between the Chicago Bears and Billy
Graham. Tom Brossia won the drawing and donated the proceeds to Rotary.

Reserve Officer Jim
Wotkyns introduced newly minted Durango Police Captain Micki Browning who comes to the community wit an impressive
resume’ including 14 years on the Santa Barbara, California police force and a
degree in Medieval History. The Captain kicked off her remarks with a synopsis
of the recent incident involving a mentally disturbed man which was on the
front page of the Herald this week. The
event ended successfully with the law enforcement folks implementing their
“communications, maintenance and containment strategy very effectively. The man ended up being sent to the SW
Colorado Mental Health Center. Captain
Browning cited the excellent “critical incident” training that all Durango PD officers
have received which contributed to the successful conclusion of this incident. Captain Browning also publicized the 10 week citizen’s
police academy as an opportunity for citizens to learn more about the police
department and help build bridges between the PD and the community. The Captain then opened the floor to questions
and there were many. Question: Do we
have big city gangs yet? Answer: No, but there are budding signs of them more
so in
Charlie Albert and Peter Marshall informed us that when we
receive the plastic key cards when staying at hotels and motels, the only
information embedded in the cards are the room numbers and the check-in and
check-out dates. Apparently the
