Sept. 8th High Noon
Rotary Meeting
Words of Wisdom: Strength and Courage
It takes strength to be certain,
it takes courage to have doubts.
It takes strength to fit in,
It takes courage to stand out.
It takes strength to hide your own pain,
It takes courage to show it and deal with it.
It takes strength to stand guard,
It takes courage to let down your guard.
It takes strength to conquer,
It takes courage to surrender.
It takes strength to endure abuse,
It takes courage to stop it.
It takes strength to stand alone,
It takes courage to lean on a friend.
It takes strength to love,
It takes courage to beloved.
It takes strength to survive,
It takes courage to live.

Program: Ed Rifilato, Fort Lewis College, Head
Football Coach
If you didn't realize you were listening to a football coach you would think
you were there for a day of inspirational speeches. Ed tries to teach his
players the things that really matter in life. Discipline is a huge part of his
program. There is a mutual respect that comes when one is disciplined on
and off of the field. His life becomes a better place and more focuses.
He of course realizes the importance of sports in the schools and how it can be
the only avenue some have to vent or ex cell. Yet, he always stresses the
Big picture in life is what truly matters. The schools, he believes,
needs to find what passion the kids have and work on that passion to keep them
in school, be it wood shop, music, sports or whatever non-academic that might
be. It is tough these days keeping these kids in schools. We need
to do everything we can to make sure they stay in school and that they learn in
the process.
The kids at the Fort are lucky to have Ed on their side working with them on
and off the field.
Have a great week...
