Announcements:
*Our District Gov. will be here next week so don't miss the meeting.
*Bayfield Rotary Club is hosting a foreign exchange student from Brazil.  We are helping them get started this year on the financial side.  They have 3 host families already set up for the year and are excited for his arrival.
*Anyone interested in going over for a presentation to the Bayfield Rotary Club needs to be at their Library at noon on Wednesday 17th.  Or give Steve a call to car pool.
*Steve Govreau's son will be leaving on his foreign exchange to France in the very near future.  They are also hosting an exchange student in their home from Brazil who will be arriving very soon. 
**1st Annual Rotary Clubs of Durango and Bayfield Picnic!!!!  Sat. Aug. 27th at 4pm at Durango Fairgrounds. Fun for the entire family...Hope to see a large turnout.  It is also what Rotary is all about.  Spending time just having fun with our "Brothers & Sisters" and getting to know one another on a different level....So come and enjoy!!!

Program: Women's Resource Center

The Resource Center is an incredible resource for our community.  It serves women and girls in need through several different programs.  One of these programs is the Girls to Women, Women to Girls Conference held every year here in La Plata County.  Over 275 girls attend.  Typical school age is 8th Grade and then High School girls become mentors in the years that follow.  They rely highly of volunteers from small businesses, and leaders in our community.  It typically falls in April but no date is set as of yet.
*This is a 6 year tradition in La Plata County.  If interested in helping please contact the Resource Center at 247-1242.
*Girls have wonderful opportunities through Arts and entertainment.
*Womenfest Conference
     *Chick Flick Night at the Abbey
     *Volunteer and Mentoring Opportunities.
****The ladies just touched on a few of the amazing areas that the Center is involved in on a daily basis.  It is an incredible group of people and another area for you to get involved as a good Rotarian if this touches your heart.

** The last bit of business...Steve let us know that the four clubs are working together on some very exciting scholarship possibilities for the near future.  They think working together as a strong team of 4 WE will be able to make a considerable difference as far as scholarships go.  More to come from Steve very soon....But be sure when it comes it will be HUGE!!!! Way to go Steve and the other Presidents and President elects.
