Sgt. of Arms

Bob Salzer was our able body Sgt. of Arms and called upon those with July Birthdays, Anniversaries, and Club anniversaries to make appropriate contributions.  He then drew Pam Moore’s ticket, and she had to guess who from the club had played the lead Hispanic role, Maria, in the musical “West Side Story”.  She guessed Jeannie Wheeldon, but alas it was in fact Tami Coddington, who had played the role while in high school.

Announcements

Bill Cartwright still has water bottles from the United Way golf tournament for sale for $10/bottle.  Tim Walsworth asked those who had won silent auction items at the golf tournament to please get the money to him ASAP.  Tim also reported that the golf tournament had cleared about $23,000, of which half will go to our club.

Program

Today’s program was United Way.  Tim Walsworth, Ward Holmes, and Randy Geist presented United Ways “new approach “ to improving lives in our community.  It will involved smaller study groups, and better identify specific issues just in “our” community.  Tim stated that the United Way 2005 budget for our community is

approximately $800,000.  Randy had the club members fill out a short survey, and requested that all members please get involved with the 2005 process.

Closing

Bud read a wonderful story about the creation of  Stanford University.  It reminded us all that to prejudge anyone, or anything, is just plain unacceptable.  Ward closed the meeting claiming it was the “shortest meeting on record”.
