Announcements
• Joy Mathis announced the 5th annual American Red Cross Rose Sale. Last year, Rotary was the largest purchaser of roses, so there are big expectations. Jeannie Wheeldon has graciously offered a Diamond Circle Melodrama ticket for each dozen roses purchased by our Rotary members.
•Tonight (Thursday) the Pozo-Alonso family will be performing during Happy Hour at the Palace.
• Pam Moore is coordinating a Trash Pick Up day on May 7. Breakfast will be at 7:00am at Kennebec Cafe, with trash pick up beginning at 8:00am. To add even more fun to the event, there will be a scavanger hunt, so bring the kids to help.
• Frank Valen and John Marshall updated us on the Durango Motor Expo. We were all asked to contribute items for the silent auction. Car memorabilia is the number one priority, but contributions of any type will be appreciated. Poker Run tickets will be provided to us soon, and we are asked to sell tickets.
• Cathy Crum updated us on the GSE Team visit. On Wednesday, April 27 the 5 delegates from the Phillippines will arrive and be treated to an array of interesting local events. Thanks to Charlie Albert for donating nights at the Jarvis Suites to the delegates for a "quiet night". There will be a potluck dinner on Saturday, April 30 at the Rec Center, 2700 Main, from 5-8 pm.  Cathy asks that Chip Lile please ask the Youth Exchange group to attend. Contact Cathy for additional information about the GSE events.
• The next Board Meeting is April 19th, 5:30pm, in the conference room at Durango Office Suites. (Thanks, Phil Bryson). All interested members are encouraged to attend.
• Bud Poe read an article from the Wall Street Journal entitled "Polio and Rotary". Interesting fact from the article: "In 1985, when Rotary launched its eradication program, there were an estimated 350,000 new cases of polio in 125 countries. Last year, 1,263 cases were reported. ...  An economist of our acquaintance calls Rotary's effort the most successful private health initiative ever."
• Tom Brossia announced a CPC meeting directly after today's meeting to vote on project/grant funding.

Sergeant at Arms
• Our Sergeant at Arms, Mike Matheson, was coined and fined by President Mike McGuire.
• Happy Dollars:
        • Mike Matheson is celebrating his 14th anniversary in Rotary.
        • Chandler Jackson was celebrating, with a certain amount of trepidation, the arrival of his 10 month old granddaughter to live with him.
        • Frank Valen celebrated that his picture is now on the wall of the Durango Diner. < Frank, might one assume a direct correlation between this "honor" and heart surgery?? >
        • Mike McGuire has been nominated for the next mature man calendar. Members mind's were boggled at the thought of viewing Mike wearing only his holster.
        • Phil Bryson was happy to have the Brainstorm negotiations completed and his Crossroads Durango project progressing. He also seemed dazed and confused that he now has a mortgage to help pay for all his entrepreneurship.
• Other Miscellanea:
        • The OF table and the OF, Junior, table were encouraged to share the joy and start sitting with other people.
        • Our own Motorcycle Mama, Pam Moore, avoided the constabulary while indulging in her motorcycle madness. Blonde, good looking and riding a motorcycle. It's hard to believe that the trooper was looking the other way.
        • Steve Wheeldon suggested that Red Cross roses be purchased for the Women's Center from today's fine money.
        • Big losers at the card draw: Bob Griffith and Phil Bryson (which is a shame because Phil needs money to pay that mortgage).

Program
Ted Robson introduced our guest speaker, Dan Oliver - Fly Fishing Guide Extraordinaire

As Dan spoke on the joys of fly fishing, we watched lots of slides of men standing in water holding their rods.

The Joker
Bud Deering told us the Jesus the Rotweiller joke. Thanks for reminding us of that old joke, Bud.

Final Note
There were several cell phone interruptions. Judge Lyman was a multiple offender, but we noticed he only paid one fine. Judge, are you this lenient with your court sentencing?

Please - prevent cell phone abuse! Remember to turn off your cell phones before the meeting.
