ROTARY GRAM   3/24/05 MEETING

GUESTS:   Past Govenor Bill Tarpley,  Bud Deering’s wife Judy, Andrea and Jeff from DSNGR, Jim Peters.  Joanne Valen and Leanna’s husband (sorry I didn’t get his name) were also guests.  We also had Annette, a visiting Rotary exchange student from France

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

 

  • Senator Allard’s aid, Aaryn Richardson and the Senators Chief of Staff announced there is a public Citizens Program in Washington DC, June 8 – 10.  You can interact with politicians and get a first hand look at how the government works.  Great speakers will be presenting interesting talks.  Cost is $200.00.  For more information or an application contact Aaryn  Richardson at  375 6311.
  • Senator Allard will have an open house for this area’s constituents on 5/7/05.
  • Trip to Mexico to distribute wheel chairs – 5/18 – 23.   So far Bob Volger, Charlie Albert, Mike Mcguire are going.   See Charlie or Mike for more details if you want to go.
  • The party on 3/19/05 at Mcguires was a huge success.  Thank you Mike for the 1 cannon salute!
  • Check out the Durango High School’s El Diablo to find out what is going on with our youth at the high school.
  • Past Governor Tarpley announced he is the “club extension” officer at the district level and will looking to charter a new club in the area.  Bayfield / Ignacio area is a real possibility.  There will be a meeting on 4/5/05 at the Sun Ute Rec Center for anyone interested in a charter club in that area.
  • Tom Cheatum announced the “bowlers” raised $1,300 + for Big Brothers Big Sisters at the recent bowl a thon.

 

 

 

SGT AT ARMS:

 

Steve & Jan collected fines with class and smiles.  The old Fart table was charged for something … J    Dave G was fined for his trip to NZ       Phil Bryson was fined for

being in the newspaper with NO mention of Rotary        Dan M won the bid for 2 train tickets – thank you Dan for the contribution to HNR.  He also won a train hat, compliments of DSNGR… Bob V and Ellen were also “gifted” with hats for having winning tickets. Bud P won a train coffee mug as did Steve G.

 

The pot is now over $260… buy tickets this week !!
