PROGRAM:

We had a great pictorial history of some of the ecological issues that have faced Durango from the 1880’s to present.  Our very own Mike Matheson did a superb job of showing we have cleaner air, a cleaner river and more trees than 100 years ago.

Did you know that:

there is a “MOVING MOUNTAIN “ in town – and that it exploded in 1933?

Durango has been a “Tree City” since 1980?

this area was once a barren plateau?

the floods of 1911 and 1927 were not due to snow melt, but due to heavy rain storms?

the train is exempt, by state law, from air quality issues?

HAPPY SUPER HERO SNOWDOWN!!
