Sgt of Arms: Patty Burkholder admirably filled in for missing employee Karen

L’Argent. We found out that Patty is celebrating her 34th anniversary AND

her birthday next week. Tami is celebrating her 5th. Walt seemed pretty

happy to be going on a vacation. Steve Wheeldon donated a 7th Wheelchair in

honor of his contract renewal with Jeannie. Some of the fines helped with

Rotaract’s holiday card fundraiser and with the Ornament Project.

Program: Presented by Kip Koso and Ana Velasquez. They are advocating for

the establishment of La Plata County Boys and Girls Clubs in Durango,

Ignacio, and Bayfield. These clubs provide after school and weekend programs

that inspire and enable youth. In Durango, they would seek to establish the

club in the old Amory building adjacent to the recreation center so as to

use existing facilities in their programs. Estimated costs are $125-175,000

per year per club with funding coming from National Boys and Girl Club

monies, grants, organizational donactions (Civic groups, United Way, etc)

and fundraising efforts from the club itself. Currently they are requesting

a letter of support from our club.
